This is the latest iteration of the best and most versatile and Open-source media player ever, packaged as a portable application it sports a new look and has been made more stable.

VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, …) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network, with extended features (video on demand, on the fly transcoding, …). This doesn’t need any external codec or program to work.

Install Notes: Download it here and extract on hard disk or USB key and run VLCPortable. Settings of installed VLC should be preserved. If you drag’n drop a file on (or open with) VLCPortable: it will be opened in VLC.
