Donating your Car
A few weeks ago, I wrote about a website that I found where people can post their wishes in the hopes that someone who gets to read it will generously fulfill their wish (Tree of Wishes). Following that line of thought, this time I want to blog about a site where you can donate car to charity: The Vietnam Veterans Car Donation Program website, managed by the Illinois State Council.
If you live in the USA, you know that having a car is a necessity for most people. And, if you have an old car that you are thinking of disposing or selling, you might want to consider donating it to charity to benefit the United States Veterans. It’s a very worthy cause. I know I would donate my car if I was in the US and had an old car. Instead of just throwing it away, I hope you’d consider joining others who made their own car donations already. They also accept trucks, boats, motorcycles, vans, trailers or even RVs. They accept even non-running or wrecked cars. You can find more information on their website and the form you need to fill up right there.
If you have the means to do so, join the car donations in illinois initiative. You will be doing a good deed for the veterans who have fought and sacrificed their lives for the country. Yes, just by donating a car. So how does this one work? The VietnamVeteransCarDonation.com is accepting your car donation from kindhearted individuals who have a spare car at home. The cars will be sold by the organization and the proceeds will be used to fund the needs of the veterans. We all know there are some veterans living in not so good conditions. They are the ones who need our help.
Are you interested in helping? Go to the site now. At the homepage, you will find out the initiative’s goals and how to donate your car. Just fill out the online form, schedule a pick up date, and then get the receipt that you can use in order to get a tax deduction. It’s that easy! The pick up date can be any time that is convenient for you. There’s a free towing service available to pick up your car, so you don’t have to worry about that either. Helping the vets is really simple, and it can mean a big help to them.
The Urgent Need for Alternative Sources of Fuel
You can start off your use of alternative fuels in your daily commute. If you use your feet to commute, either through walking or cycling, you are at a great disadvantage with the rest of the American populace. Not only will you be healthier and fitter, you will also save thousands of dollars on ever increasing fuel costs, while cutting down on your carbon footprint.
Of course, you cannot depend on walking or cycles to take you everywhere. You will require a motorized mode of transport sooner or later. If you can afford one, a hybrid car would be a great investment. Not only are hybrid cars more economical, they are also low polluting. You will also be at a distinct advantage with the rest of the population as fuel prices keep on increasing, and as the country makes the inevitable switch to cars powered by alternative sources of fuel.
Try to use public means of transport as much as you can, especially the local metro which runs on electric power, and thus, gives off zero emissions. Not only is public transport a cost effective means of travel, it is also a great way to do your little bit for the environment and keep at least one car off the already congested roads and highways.
It makes sense to switch over the alternative fuel sources sooner than later. We will all have to switch to greener energy sources one day, so why not today rather than tomorrow?

Cambodia: Millicom to sell to local partner, since it lacks the scale to succeed in Asia
The transaction, which is expected to be completed before the end of 2009, comprises Millicom’s 58.4% holdings in each of CamGSM, Royal Telecam International and Cambodia Broadcasting Services.
It values the Cambodian operations at an enterprise value of $605 million, representing an estimated 7.1 times 2009 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda.
Luxembourg-based Millicom, which is listed on Nasdaq and the Stockholm stock exchange, earlier this year decided to divest its Asian operations and focus on Africa and Latin America.
It said July 2 that the units in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Laos will be classified as “assets held for sale” and that it had received expressions of interest from a number of parties.
“We don’t think that we have the critical mass to operate in Asia,” Millicom Chief Financial Officer Francois-Xavier Roger told Dow Jones Newswires in an interview last month, adding that the proceeds from a sale of the Asian assets will be used to invest in external growth, repaying debt, or distributing part of the money to the owners through dividends and share buybacks.
Achieving Top Performance with Quality Parts
When it comes to high-performance cars, most people are virtually obsessed about the car parts they add onto their cars and what effects they have on their rides. While there are literally thousands of ways to optimize a car’s performance, in the end it all comes down to what aspect of your car you want to enhance. For instance, some people want a louder engine, while others want more raw power or a better response, to name just a few ways you can improve your car.
In terms of customization, the most popular way of enhancing your automobiles is to get a body-kit and a high-quality custom paint job. This way the car becomes unique and is becomes an extension of the car’s owner. Another popular part to add-on is a cold air intake, bringing lower temperature air into a car’s engine, increasing engine power and efficiency, a must-have for car fanatics. For performance street cars is an absolute must and one of the first additions people will invest in.
However, no matter what you do to your car, you must always buy quality parts, to avoid risks and ensuring top-performance. When looking for car parts and information, there are many great resources online but nothing beats streetperformance.com, a website devoted to providing the best performance-enhancing parts for your car.
The site allows you to search by brand, part number, models, etc. making it extremely user-friendly from every possible angle. Moreover, with a sleek and modern look, it has succeeded in becoming one of the most visited sites among auto enthusiasts. As a token of the site’s features, the home page lists what parts and accessories have been searched most often, giving a new user a much-needed guide to what’s hot and what enhancements people are adding to their cars.
Cybersecurity: an analysis of the changing challenges users face
Many people don’t yet fully understand the enormity of the threat — to individuals, their families and the companies that they work for, warns Andrea M. A frequent public commentator on the topic, Matwyshyn is the editor of a forthcoming book titled, Harboring Data: Information Security, Law and the Corporation.
